Eamonn Melaugh (born 4 July 1933) is a socialist, campaigner and political activist from Derry. He married Mary (May) McLaughlin in 1956 and they had 4 daughters and 7 sons.〔(Eamonn Melaugh ) THE ACTION WITH EFFECT DERRY (U.K)〕 He helped found the Derry Housing Action Committee(DHAC)〔(Derry Housing Action Committee Irish Civil Rights ) Cumann Frithdheighilte Na h-Éireann/Irish Anti-Partition League.〕 and the Derry Unemployment Action Committee (DUAC) which campaigned for jobs and housing for the predominantly catholic people of Derry city who were being discriminated against by the Unionist controlled corporation. 〔(Eamonn Melaugh Photographer ) CAIN Archive〕 As a result, Melaugh and the DHAC became involved with the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association in the late 1960s.
